  1. Dieter Rams • From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Dieter Rams is a German industrial designer closely associated with the consumer products company Braun and the Functionalist school of industrial design. Life and career Rams began studies in architecture and interior decoration at Wiesbaden School of Art in 1947. Dieter Rams was strongly influenced by the presence of his grandfather, a carpenter. He once explained his design approach in the phrase "Weniger, aberbesser" which translates as "Less, but better". Rams and his staff designed many memorable products for Braun including the famous SK-4 record player and the high-quality 'D'-series (D45, D46) of 35 mm film slide projectors. He is also known for designing the 606 Universal Shelving System by Vitsœ in 1960.

  2. Rams' ten principles of "good design" • Is innovative • Makes a product useful • Is aesthetic • Makes a product understandable • Is unobtrusive • Is honest • Is long-lasting. • Is thorough down to the last detail • Is environmentally friendly • Is as little design as possible • Another important part for analyses of an Interactive Media application is how the people respond to “subject matter” in front of a graphic or a picture, relating it to art.

  3. All of us respond to Subject matter in art: The way people receive the snake and the butterfly is different. I can compare to a written novel. The words compose the story, but the story is more than words, how is made by the author is unique. The “subject matter” is what the end user feels and receive the message intended by the artist.

  4. Design theory/Layoutcomposition: The composition is how the layout is structured, how the elements displayed are connected together and how it’s result is archived. • Characteristicsof interactive media composition applied to the example provided (target audience, objective, center of interest) • Visual : hierarchy, consistency, balance, emphasis, unity, navigation • Colors: Color theory • Fonts: Typography • Graphics: Photography/images • Any others relevant information for the website

  8. “My heart belongs to the details. I actually always found them to be more important than the big picture. Nothing works without details. They are everything, the baseline of quality”– Dieter Rams
