What is the Alamo? • The Alamo was originally named Mision San Antonio de Valero. • It was home to missionaries and Native Americans that converted to Christianity for 70 years. • The Alamo is located in San Antonio, Texas. • It was built in 1724.
Who was involved in the Battle of the Alamo? • The Texans and the Mexican army were involved in the Battle of the Alamo. • The Texans were led by William B. Travis. • The Mexican army was led by Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna.
Why were they involved in the Battle of the Alamo? • The Texans and the Mexicans both wanted to occupy the Alamo.
What happened? • At that time, the Alamo was occupied by William B. Travis and 180 Texans. • On February 23, 1836, General Antonio de Santa Anna and his army marched to the Alamo.
