  1. Summary of HV-PNPI status (from Burkhard – 4 June 08) We have a very strong prove that the HARDWARE is not the problem for the strange behavior we see. When using exactly the same hardware which causes the problems, but connecting the control for the 2nd RDB not to one of the host cards in PC muhvc01 but to Sergey's PC (using the same cables), everything runs without problem. Therefore we thought the problem might be either the host card or the PC, but this is not the case, as we have proven since with a tested host card and muhvc03. Since that became clear and all the hardware has been ruled out as possible cause, we have concentrated the efforts on the Driver, as this is the only software piece we had not checked.

  2. Summary of HV-PNPI status (from Burkhard – 4 June 08) The DIM server and the PVSS had been ruled out as possible cause already at an earlier stage, when the problem appeared while the DIM server and PVSS were disconnected. The reason why I remained suspicious about PVSS is due to the fact that on one hand I am not yet satisfied with the performance of the program and on the other that I saw some strange coincidences as to the frequency of the problem depending on the state of PVSS. I agree with Michela's statement that neither the DIM server nor PVSS are the cause. Any improvements in the PVSS in particular are most welcome. The additional information I received on the phone from Victor Barashko on the Driver confirm the impression that we are on the right track for solving the problem when improving this piece of software, as the communication between the various host cards is not dealt with properly in the old version of the Driver we are using. So  first we will install the new Driver today, then we will adapt it to our configuration. This is the direction we are going, and we are thankful that Evgeni came to put his hands on this. I will keep you posted on any progress on this by the end of the week
