  5. Unit Questions……….. . • How do humans compare to the other five kingdoms of living organisms? • What is the biological and ecological importance of each kingdom? • How are the six kingdoms of life related? • What other organisms have not yet been discovered?

  6. Content Questions…….... • Which organisms are multicellular orunicellular? • Is the organism a eukaryote or prokaryote? • How does the organism obtain nutrients? • How does the organism reproduce? • What is theroleof the organism in the environment? • Identify the phylum, class order, family, genus, species and common name of organisms?

  7. 7 Day Project Checklist…………. Day 1- Teacher introduction to Kingdoms of Life. Students complete KWLS rubric. Students complete “Teach a Critter about Life” section of project (handout 1 and 2). Day 2- Choose one animal and teacher assigns one organism from another kingdom of life to research. Work in partners assigned by teacher. Each student completes a research sheet. Research the animal in computer lab and complete the animal section of research worksheet (handout 3). Save two pictures of the animal in your project folder. Begin Power Point using research. Be sure to site sources on last slide of Power Point (handout 4). Day 3- Research organism from other kingdom and complete the section of your research worksheet for the other organism assigned by the teacher (handout 3). Continue to create a PowerPoint using research and pictures. Day 4- Complete computer research and the research worksheet on organisms from both kingdoms. Continue to work on Power Point Presentation. Print pictures of the organisms to include the scientific names of each) you researched. Print both pictures on one page to the library. Day 5- Create a Venn diagram using the two organisms you researched (handout 5). Make a Power Point slide illustrating the Venn diagram. Make a five question quiz using information from your presentation. Complete your project and upload to my SharePoint page (handout 6). Points deducted if uploaded after this day. Complete KWLS rubric on back of this sheet. Day 6-Using the Critter pictures taken on day one, students will work in groups to sort the pictures according to which kingdom of life they belong. The class will make a Kingdoms of Life poster to include all pictures. Complete Peer grade sheet on your partner and turn in the day of presentation. Oral presentations begin Day 7- Using the two photos printed by each student of the organisms researched, students will work in groups to sort the pictures according to which kingdoms of life they belong. Continue with oral presentations.

  8. Project Assessment

  9. Getting started…………. 1. Students complete KWLS rubric. 2. Students complete “Teach a Critter about Life” section of project (handout 1 and 2).
