Email Discussion Groups • What is happening? • We will be using google groups for the general body and subcommittee communication. • What is a google group? • An email distribution lists • …with some extra stuff • Why are we doing this? • Improve communication • Self managed distribution lists

EWB Gateway Groups • “EWB-STL” • General body announcements, minutes, low volume. • Everyone on the membership roster will be added this week. • “EWB-STL-Honduras” - Honduras project planning • “EWB-STL-EXEC” - Executive committee • “EWB-STL-Finance-Committee” - Finance committee • Others will be added and announced as needed. • Group web address: • http://groups.google.com/group/<group name>

  4. Basic Features(no google account required) • Receive group email (no action required) • Send email to group members • EWB-STL@googlegroups.com • Subscribe to group • EWB-STL-subscribe@googlegroups.com • Unsubscribe to group • EWB-STL-unsubscribe@googlegroups.com

  5. Additional Group Features(google account required) • With a google account you can • log into http://groups.google.com/ and • Edit your profile and email settings • View the group email history • View and share files posted to the group • Edit and read group web pages.

Creating a Google Account • Go to http://groups.google.com/ • Select “Sign in” on the top right hand corner of the screen. • Select “Create an account now” • Enter email address, create a password, etc. • Once logged in you will see a list of groups you are subscribed to. • Note: Your email address must be the same as the one that is subscribed to the google group • If you would like to use a different email address you can either • unsubscribe the old one and subscribe with the new one or • Ask Jonathan Jump (felixcryog@gmail.com) to change it for you.
