  1. Epithelial Tissue By Aidan and Coral

  2. What is Epithelial tissue Epithelial tissue covers the outside of the body and lines organs and cavities. The cells in this type of tissue are very closely packed together and joined with little space between them. Epithelial tissue is one of the four major tissue types in the body. It acts as an interface between the body and the rest of the world. Your skin is composed of this tissue. Epithelial tissue helps to protect organisms from microorganisms, injury, and fluid loss.

  3. The properties of Epithelial tissue • They are flat • They are squishy • They build up in layers That’s what Epithelial tissue looks like ….

  4. Why are they important • The other main tissue types are muscle tissue, nervous tissue, and connective tissue. Epithelial tissue is distinguished by several features. The first is the fact that cells in this tissue are extremely tightly packed, with minimal intracellular spaces between them. It is also separated from the underlying tissue by the basement membrane, a layer of material that is partly formed by the epithelial tissue, and partly by the underlying tissue. The cells are also attached to one another, and they are polarized, with an up side and a down side which connects to the basement membrane or underlying epithelial cells.

  5. The two groups in Epithelial tissue • Epithelial tissue is split into two groups • Simple Epithelial- is when the tissue is only one cell thick • Stratified Epithelial- is when the tissue is more than one cell thick, such as skin

  6. Questions 1: What’s the two types of Epithelial tissue 2: What functions do Epithelial tissue have 3: Why is it important for the cell to reproduce
