3. Founder Chancellor Dr. T.R. Paari Vendhar Dr. T.R. Paari Vendhar, born in the year 1942 is the Founder of SRM Institute of Science and technology, an educationist, philanthropist and the industrialist. In 1968 , Dr. T.R. Paari Vendhar started the Florence Nightingale Primary School, the cornerstone of the SRM group of educational institutions. He started the polytechnic institute in 1984 and after that an engineering college. He fulfilled his ambition to qualify as an engineer by completing A.M.I.E. He was awarded with Doctorate Degree from Birmingham University, London. SRM is a multispecialty university which covers all faculties. In 2002, eight out of 20 colleges got elevated to the status of a university. The whole SRM Group now has more than 55,000 students and 7,000 members of staff. SRM University has tie-ups with well-known international institutions like the London School of Economics (LSE), Harvard and Cambridge Universities etc. Through his efforts SRM Group is one of the largest portfolios of institutions in South India which includes SRM University, SRM Hotels, SRM Transports Private Ltd, SRM Civil works – RMC. “Persistent and dedicated hard work is the key to success”.
