  1. Monday, September 21, 2015 Corrections: using the right word, subject-verb agreement, reflexive pronoun, comma to separate phrases and clauses Using it’s lungs to breathe the walking catfish move themselves over land from one body of water to another.

Using the Right Word • Rule: When you mean it is or it has, use an apostrophe. • When you are using its as a possessive, don’t use the apostrophe. • A possessive indicates possession or ownsership. Example: It’s your right to refuse the invitation. (it is) The furniture store celebrated its tenth anniversary.

  5. Possessive Apostrophe • Rule:There are four ways to use the apostrophe to show ownership or belonging. 1. Add apostrophe s to the end of a singular noun that does not end in s: the manager’s room 2. Add apostrophe s to the end of a singular noun, even if it ends in s (this practice may vary in some places): Doris’s scarf 3. Add apostrophe s to the end of a plural noun that doesn’t end in s the children’s bag 4. If the plural noun ends in s, just add the apostrophe my friends’ car

  7. Wednesday, September 23, 2015 Corrections: hyphen in a single thought adjective, using the right word, numbers A full grown lion can eat seventy-five pounds of meet in one meal.

  8. Hyphen in single thought adjectives Rule: Two or more adjectives before a noun that act as one idea (one-thought adjectives) are connected with a hyphen. Example: First-class decisions require clear-headed thinking. First-class is one adjective describing the decisions.

Corrections: hyphen in single thought adjectives, pronoun antecedent agreement, comma to separate adjectives, subject-verb agreement When a llama get mad, it spits thick bad smelling saliva into their enemy’s face.

  11. Comma to separate adjectives Rule: Use commas to separate two or more adjectives that describe the same noun. Be sure never to add an extra comma between the final adjective and the noun itself. Example: He was a difficult, stubborn child. The cheesy, gooey, fattening pizza was delicious.
