  3. Schedule 4 Days A week-Monday through Thursday AM Session 8:05-11:15 Students will be provided with breakfast and a snack free of charge to the family. PM Session 11:15-2:30 Students will be provided with lunch and a snack free of charge to the family.

  4. Drop-Off and Pick-Up • AM Drop off is on the side of the building at Hawkins Avenue.

  5. AM Pick Up, PM drop off, and PM pick up are in the parking lot by the Movement Center entrance. Remain outside the doors and Preschool staff will come out to assist you when it’s time for exchanges. Teachers have copies of our emergency pick-up forms. Only those listed on the pick-up forms will be permitted to pick up your child from school. If at any time you want to make changes to this form, you must come to school and do so yourself.

  6. Backpacks • Make sure that your child has a backpack that comes to and from school with him or her everyday • This is our way of communicating with you so please check it daily. • Make sure it is big enough to hold your child’s clothes as well as papers that may be going to and from school. • Also, any item(s) that you want to make sure teachers receive, please put in the large zippered section of the backpack • With 20 backpacks to check, teachers may not get around to checking all of the compartments of every child’s backpack.

  7. Transportation Changes • Please send a note to school with your child for transportation changes. • We understand things may come up at the last minute, but it is difficult to make last minute changes in bus routes. Therefore, the earlier you notify the school of changes, the better.

  8. PHONE CALLS • Phone calls disrupt class and your child’s routine and schedule so please send notes and then expect return phone calls at the end of the school day.

  9. Clothing Shoes-Flip Flops and Sandals are not recommended for playing outside on the playground. • Dress in layers- It may be too hot or too cold and we want to make sure that all children are comfortable. • Always make sure to send an extra change of clothes with your child. Even if he/she is potty trained, other accidents happen such as milk spills and wading mud puddles. • The clothes will stay in his/her backpack so you can change them out for different seasons.

  10. Potty-Diapers • If your child is not potty trained, you are responsible for making sure the your child has diapers and wipes while at school. • If you would like information on potty-training, please contact either Ms. Poynter or Mrs. Gates so they can assist you in potty-training your child.

  11. Sickness • As children interact with other children, germs are spread. Please be respectful of others and keep your child at home if he or she is sick. Don’t spread the illness as it is difficult for any parent with a sick child to be absent from work. • School policy states that your child must be fever free, vomit free, and diarrhea free for at least 24 hours before returning to school. If your child returns to school before this timeline, he or she will be sent back home. • School policy also states that if your child is sent home with head lice, then he or she must be brought to school and checked by the school nurse before returning to class. If your child is a bus rider, you must make arrangements to get him or her to school to be checked before the bus will be allowed to pick up him or her.

  12. Snow Days • Preschool follows the Somerset Independent School schedule for school closings and delays. • If there is an one hour(1) delay or a two(2) hour delay, AM (morning) preschool is cancelled. • Delaying the start of school does not affect the PM (afternoon) preschool sessions. For example, afternoon preschool will be on regular schedule even if there is a delay in the start time of school. Afternoon session will continue on regular schedule.

  13. Separation Anxiety • It is sometimes hard for children to separate from parents when they first start school. Crying children aren’t uncommon to the preschool staff. Generally, once the child is in class and away from the parent, he or she will calm down and enjoy the day. If your child is having issues separating, it will usually help if you go ahead and leave so we can get started with the day and having fun learning. If your child does not calm down and continues to cry we will call you.

  14. Ms. Vicki’s • Ms. Vicki Jones and staff provide afterschool child care from 11:15 to 5:30. • This program is open to children ages 4 through 6th grade. • If you are interested in this child-care, please to contact Ms. Vicki Jones at 679-6193.
