  7. Settler Schedule 6 day cycle 80 minutes of Language Arts and Math instruction each day. 40 minutes of Social Studies and Science Recess is 15 minutes. Lunch is 30 minutes. Special Flex/Target Time

Everyday Mathematics • Ten Units broken into multiple lessons • “Lesson 1.7” • 1-denotes Unit • 7-denotes lesson • Topics: Interpretation of Data, Operations with Numbers & Decimals, Variables, Formulas & Graphs, Number Uses & Operations, Geometry, Algebra Concepts, Probability & Discrete Math, Rates & Ratios, Geometry Topics

  9. Everyday Mathematics • Components: • Math Binder • Math Journal (workbook) • Student Reference Book (SRB • Supplies • Family Letters (packet sent home TONIGHT with all units)

  10. Math Binder • Used for Note-Taking • Practice Problems • Vocabulary and Definitions • Math Packet (includes study links) • Traditional Multiplication/Division Practice • Independent Activities/Enrichment

  11. Student Reference Book • Information about the various topics • Conversions • Rules • Definitions

  12. Assessments • Basic Math Facts (1x per quarter) • Lesson Quizzes • Vocabulary • Projects • Unit Tests • End of Unit with Open-Ended Questions • Study Guides • Use Quizzes given as review **All Unit Tests and quizzes will be sent home for parent signature

  13. Science: Houghton Mifflin • Components: Textbook & 3 Ring Binder • Online Text available – contact Mrs. Sandberg for details.

  14. 6th Grade Science • Sections: Scientific Method, Unifying Themes, Life Science, Earth Science & Physical Science • Quiz after each section • Test at end of each unit • Study guides provided

  15. HomeworkMajor Subjects • Review and reinforcement of skills • Homework FYI: ~ points for completion, neatness, & effort ~ typically worth 2pts ~ ½ credit for late homework

  16. Homework Policy (per month) • One missed homework assignment = recess detention • Three missed homework assignments = after school detention (held Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4:40 p.m.)
