  2. A Picture of Health • “Game, set and match to Jane.”- At the end of a tennis game the umpire (рефери) usually announces (объявляет) “Game, set and match to” and the name of the winner (победитель). • To pretend to be sick = to fake being sick- притвориться больным • To have the flu, to have a cold • To get the flu, to get a cold (to catch the flu, a cold) • To have a temperature, to be running a temperature (to take someone’s temperature)

  3. I don’t want to catch her cold. • To get better, recover, feel better • Get better!, Get well soon!

  4. Discussion Questions • Why did Helen pretend to be sick? • Did her friends try to help her get better? How? • Jane came home from work and asked Helen if she ate or drank anything. What did Helen say? Why? • David and Jane don’t agree about which type of medicine Jane should take. What are their opinions? What do you think? • Matt suggest (предлагает) that Helen watch tennis on television. How does she react? Why? • Does Helen want to see Simon? Why? • Simon tells Helen that he bought tickets to see a Salsa band. How does she react?

  5. Discussion Questions • Who goes with Simon to the concert instead of Helen? Why? • Last week we watched a video about lying. Helen lied to her friends about going on a date with Simon. This week she lied about having a cold. Does Helen lie too much? • Helen lied about having a cold and because of that, she couldn’t go to the concert with Simon. Americans might say that was “karma for lying” (fate punished (наказала) her for lying). Do you agree?
