  6. Pillars of Accreditation Meet the AdvancED Quality Standards Engage in Continuous Improvement Demonstrate Quality Assurance through Internal and External Review To earn and maintain accreditation, districts must: 6

  7. Purpose & Role of the Quality Assurance Review Team Determine the extent to which the District meets the AdvancED standards. Assess the efficacy of the District’s improvement efforts. Evaluate the effectiveness of the District’s methods for quality assurance. Provide high-quality feedback with clear recommendations and actionable next steps. Make an accreditation recommendation. 7

  8. Activities of the Quality Assurance Review Team • Artifacts/documents review • Interviews • Site visits • Observations • Professional deliberations

  9. Interviews with Stakeholders • During the on-site Quality Assurance Review, team members interviewed: • 5 Administrators • 50 Teachers • 21 Support Staff • 17 Parents and Community Members • 5 Board Members • 105 Students TOTAL of 203 stakeholders

Criteria Used to Arrive at the Team’s Findings • When reviewing evidence to arrive at its findings, the team: • Sought a district-wide perspective; • Pursued evidence that could be corroborated through multiple sources; • Examined the context and capacity of the district in relation to its vision, mission, and beliefs; and • Applied the criteria for accreditation.

Summary of Team’s Findings Commendations • Significant accomplishments in meeting and/or exceeding accreditation standards and requirements Recommendations • Submit the Accreditation Progress Report two years following this review. • Actions that will enhance school effectiveness and improve student learning; recommendations must be addressed within two years of the visit

  12. Commendations The Quality Assurance Review Team commends Alva Independent School District for the following: Strong leadership exists in the district. High levels of collaboration exist in the district. A strong sense of community, a high level of communication, and ownership of the schools in the district exist among all stakeholders. 12

Recommendations The Quality Assurance Review Team recommends that Alva Independent School District: Identify and implement appropriate instructional strategies to meet the needs of the changing demographics of the student population. Align and monitor the delivery of the district curriculum. Clearly define, delineate, and communicate the Vision, Mission, and Purposes of the district. 13

  14. Next Steps • Written report of findings submitted within 30 days • After receipt of the report, the district is expected to: • Review and communicate the findings. • Address the recommendations. • Monitor accreditation standards on ongoing basis. • Monitor strategies for improvement.

Accreditation Recommendation • The Quality Assurance Review Team recommends to the AdvancED Accreditation Commission that Alva Independent School District be awarded NCA CASI Accreditation as a quality school. • Once reviewed and approved by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, the District is granted a 5-year term accreditation.
