  2. What is the purpose of an outline? • Provides a quick, easy to read visual arrangement of your ideas for your reader and for you as the writer • Helps a writer to see if his arrangement of ideas is best for his reader (s). (Always hand a reader an outline with each of your drafts.)

  3. When should a writer outline? • Many people outline before they write anything • *Many people choose to write a first draft and then, after revising, use those revisions to help draft a outline before launching into the second draft.

  4. How to create an outline? ***Youmust have a thesis statement beforecreating your outline. Use your thesis statement to outline the main points of your outline.***
