  1. PREX Magnet Measurements John J. LeRose

  2. Back of the magnet 9 9 7 7 8 8 +B +B 1 2 3 1 2 3 5 4 6 6 4 5 In the center of the magnet measure the field at nine points in each gap These are hand held probe measurements. (i.e. not fantastically accurate)

  3. I = 523 Amps Right -Left 4 corners are a little high Cross at center fairly even Given the accuracy of the measurements looks pretty good

  4. Measured B vs. I • Attached probes to each pole in the same place • Measured B at several values of I • Cross checked probes at highest field • Placed right probe directly on top of left probe • B left probe = -447.1 mT; B right probe = -447.7 mT Polarity was backwards Right side is ~2.5% lower field than the left side Old news! Just measurement uncertainty

  5. Updates More careful remeasure eliminates the 2.5% offset -Thank you, Javier

  6. Updates cont’d TOSCA calculation agrees well with new measurements

  7. Other News • We now have right and left side SNAKE models of HRS with PREX septum • Both feature y|φ = x|θ = 0 and y|y ≈ 1 Right Left I’ll fine tune when you decide exactly where you’ll put the detector. Then I’ll generate the starting values of the reconstruction matrix elements.

  8. Conclusion • In general the magnet looks good. • Bleft = -Bright • Bmeasured = Bcalculated • Polarity was backwards during testing • no big deal • Polarityleft vs. Polarityright is OK • Still need final detector position
