  1. 6 Essential Tips To Preventing Tooth Loss

  2. Caring for your teeth is also caring for your overall health. Follow these essential tips to reduce the risk of tooth loss and so you can enjoy more of your everyday adventures.

  3. Keep A Confident Smile • Tooth loss is a common problem among young adults and several factors can contribute to this. • You need not suffer from this condition, though. • Here are few tips to prevent tooth loss and keep a confident smile.

  4. Maintain Good Oral Hygiene • This is very important especially when your everyday starts to get very busy, even a break to brush your teeth seems a luxury. • Commit yourself to simple habits such as drinking water after every meal, particularly after drinking soda. • It would be good, however, to hydrate with water and less with acidic drinks. If you cannot brush, at least gargle with mouthwash to help remove food debris from your teeth. • When you do brush, be sure to do it gently, covering all areas of your mouth, including your tongue.

  5. Avoid Tooth Grinding • People would usually grind their teeth and clench jaw during sleep, and the only time they become aware of their habit is when someone lets them know about it. • Tooth grinding or bruxism can be avoided by wearing a mouthguard while sleeping. • Bruxism is harmful because it can result to fracturing or loosening of teeth. You can consult a dentist for a custom-made mouthguard.

  6. Skip Oral Piercings • When not handled properly, oral piercing can also lead to dental problems. • The jewelry may come loose and can cause choking. Piercing can also cause infection or gum disease. • Other than that, it can also result to cracked teeth. If not necessary, it’s best to keep your mouth free of piercing

  7. Don’t Use Your Teeth for Cutting Items • Cutting tape seems a lot faster when you no longer have to grab hold a pair of scissors, however, this can cause stress on your teeth. • In the same vein, holding things using your mouth, cracking an ice cube, tearing tags off items should all be prevented. • Use your teeth only for chewing food.

  8. Wear Mouthguard When Participating in Sports • Our teeth doesn’t self-destruct. It’s damaged due to human activity. • There’s nothing wrong  living an active lifestyle, but be sure to keep your teeth protected when participating in sports. • Wear a proper-fitting mouthguard. This wouldn’t cost you a fortune so consider it a part of your workout gear.

  9. Visit your dentist • There are people who dread just the thought of having their teeth checked by a professional dentist. • Don’t be afraid to talk to dentists because they are there to help. • After all, you don’t have to schedule an appointment every week, at least twice a year dental checkup would be enough.
