  1. Chapter 1, Page 10 • It’s the case of the . . . ? • Who was on the phone? • So what’s the main issue/problem? • Why did Hilde hit her brother? • Find the line that says: “So what do we do?” • What do the detectives decide to do? • Would Germans know the English word Stakeout?

  2. Chapter 1, Page 10 • Give the basic info about Herbert’s girlfriend: Name, age, appearance, etc. • On a scale of 1-10, how lame was Günter’s comment at the end? • Did Günter deserve to get punched in the arm? • Did it hurt? How do you know?

  3. Chapter 2, Page 11 • Is it August? How do you know? • Find the phrase that says: “Hilde rings the doorbell.” • How would you translate “schon gut”? Note: It’s not “schön gut”. • Why did Hilde punch Günter this time? • What was Herbert’s reaction?

  4. Chapter 2, Page 11 • Describe Herbert. • Hilde says: “So, was ist das für eine Geschichte mit deiner Freundin?” What does that mean? • The next part is going to be acted out. The teacher will be Herbert narrating. A boy and a girl will act out (like charades) what Herbert narrates.
