  1. Bellwork • Put your stuff in the front of the room against the wall. • Take your microscope packet to your seat. • Try to finish your model-don’t forget to check every part and add color/texture. Be creative! • If you finish…Use the Snipping Tool (not in sketchup) and take about 4-6 snippets (pictures) of your microscope. • Label them Micro1, Micro2, etc. Save them in your H Drive. Work on the PPT.

Finish your model today! • Create a new PPT. • Save it to your H DRIVE. • 1st Slide- “Microscope,” your First and Last Name, Detwiler Period # • Create a slide for each snippet. • Label and define 3-4 parts of the microscope per slide/snippet. (Total=15) • Don’t forget the 2 microscope facts and cite your resource.

  3. Microscope Sketchup Project Create a microscope in Sketchup. Do NOT use 3D warehouse. You may look at images of microscopes to make your model. Include a PPT Heading: “The Microscope, Name, Period #” 5 pts. Label all 15 parts-PPT (Start on second slide). 30 pts. Write the function of each part-PPT. 30 pts. Research 2 interesting - fascinating facts about the microscope, include these in your PPT. 10 pts. Cite your references. 5. Must have correct spelling, color, and creativity. 5 pts. Total Points: 80 Completed SketchupPPT due end of period Tuesday! We will have a class gallery walk on Thursday. Grading will be completed during the walk.

  4. Microscope Parts to Include: • Eyepiece • Body Tube • Nosepiece • Objective Lenses • Arm • Stage • Diaphragm • Stage Clips • Mirror or Lamp • Base • Legs • Aperture • Slide (Specimen) • Course Adjustment Knob • Fine Adjustment Knob

  5. Where you look into the microscope. 1. Eyepiece

  6. Light passes from the objective lens to the eyepiece. 2. Body Tube

  7. The objective lenses are mounted in this part. 3. Rotating Nosepiece

  8. 2 or 3 mounted on the nose piece. Each one magnifies a different power. 4. Objective Lenses

  9. This part supports the entire upper portion of the microscope. 5. Arm

  10. You begin your focusing with this part of the microscope. 6. Coarse Adjustment Knob Focus

  11. Once the object that you would like to view comes into focus; you use this to fine tune the image. 7. Fine Adjustment Knob Focus

  12. 8. Slide A thin piece of glass where you place a specimen.

  13. The flat place under the objective lens where you place a slide for viewing. 9. Stage

  14. These two things keep the slide from moving around on the stage. 10. Stage Clips

  15. 11. Aperture • The opening in the stage that allows light through.

  16. This disk under the stage controls the amount of light that passes through the aperture. 12. Diaphragm

  17. This provides light so that it is easier to see the object that you are viewing. 13. Mirror or Light Source

  18. Supports the microscope and is used to carry it. Bottom part of the microscope. 14. Base

  19. 15. Legs • The mirror or lamp is located between these. • Bottom part of the microscope.
