Academy of the Arts“Where all students are expected to achieve at high levels through the use of technology!” Educational Organization • Computer technology based instruction. • Federally funded organization • Services students that are chosen through a lottery system • Individualized instruction that adjusts based on level of students. • Infusion of literacy and technology across all content areas.

Academy of the Arts“Where all students are expected to achieve at high levels through the use of technology!” Educational Context • Mission: provide a college and career ready curriculum that is technology and literacy infused across all content areas. • Extensive use of the Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to provide opportunities for cooperative discussions inside and outside of school. • Tablets provided for each individual student for continuous learning.

Futuring Techniques These scenarios and techniques will allow for educational organizations to: • Identify issues and create solutions to allow for all students to be successful • Create a curriculum that focuses on individualized instruction, that meets the needs of all students • Discover areas to improve on and implement new strategies to benefit all students

  5. Futuring TechniquesUsing these methods, educational organizations will be able to create scenarios to implement into the future of education. Scenarios “Pictures of the Future” Trend Analysis: identifying a trend and investigating the impact it may have on the environment. Brainstorming: identifying potential factors that need to be adjusted Scanning: using social media to identify changes

Future Vision • Potential Challenges: • Providing opportunities for teachers to become educated on how to effectively use technology • Educating parents on the benefits of technology • Creating workshops for parents & teachers to develop a connection between home and school • Providing each classroom with the most up-to-date equipment • Finding a place in the school’s budget to allow for each individual student to have a tablet

Future Vision • Opportunities: • Students will become critical thinkers • Students will be active participants in cooperative groups • Skills will be further developed outside of school • Students will have constant access to classroom resources through the use of tablets • Gap between home & school will be closed

How to Prepare: • Thoroughly explain this transformation to all teachers • Families need to be made aware of the benefits of technology • Support teachers in becoming familiar with technologies available • Begin to infuse technology into the classroom to help students become familiar with the shift • Implement workshops for parents and families to work together to support this vision

  13. Call to Action Steps: • Trainings and workshops for all those associated with the educational organization (teachers, administrators, parents, students etc.) • Educational organizations need to find opportunities within the budget to provide each student with individual tablets
