  1. Individual Membership Report October 2018 Prepared by Hans Clusmann and Lucinda Foster

Individual Membership New Initiatives in 2018 • IM Office • Regular communications with IM Committee Chair and IM secretary to work on increasing communications, activities and benefits for all individual members • IM Chair, IM secretary and Sandro Krieg have put forward suggestions for the IM area on the new website (due early 2019) • IM delegates • IM delegate remit has been produced/circulated to all IM delegates • Better communications with IM delegates via update emails and virtual meetings • Sections: • Increased admin support for the sections • Remit of sections provided to the EANS Board and Section Chairs • Suggestions for IM volunteers to help – both within the sections and within the EANS generally

Additional aims for 2019 • Motivate trainees after training courses to become individual members and become active Young Neurosurgeons • Support in promoting the EANS Academy • Liaison with International Relations Committee to increase communications/awareness/activities for the International/World Bank members • Promote EANS individual membership at National Society meetings • Explain better what it means/benefits to be an individual membership

Summary • Number of members has moreorless remained stable • New initiatives 2018 by IM Chair, IM Secretary and IM delegates • IM business structured and more transparent • Specialist Sections supported “enhanced reality” • Further plans for 2019 • to increase the numbers of members • enhance the communications • enhance benefits to members from all parts of the world • Prerequisites • the New Executive Director, Luca Segantini, January 2019 • new database system • new website which is due to be implemented early in 2019 • new PR strategy • Office attendance at more events • Martina joins us in December 2018 as events coordinator • IM delegates liaise with national societies on congresses

Proposed changes to the byelaws relating to individual membership matters • Section Chairs eligible to be elected for one further term • No longer have a requirement for role of Section Chair Elects • The Section Board members should be Individual Members of the EANS. • Section Chairs provide yearly reports (rather than every six months) • Electronic voting for new IM Chair and IM delegates will take place 3 months preceding the AGM
