NEW DATA ITEMS PIMS Course/HQT (Student-Staff-Course) NEW: All teachers linked to a student for a grade/subject/course Teacher data differ from HQT ( HQT is a different PIMS need) Report teachers REALLY having responsibility for planning the instruction, delivering the instruction, and assessing the effectiveness of the instruction( Domains 1 AND 3) Could include, at times, LTS NEW: % of Instructional Responsibility (factors) NEW: Keystone Related Course Codes/Courses that “trigger” a Keystone exam NEW: Departmentalized Elementary Courses

New for 2013-2014 Collection Window LEA must submit data within the window List of LEAs that fail to submit sent to PDE executive offices Correction Window No overrides necessary No overrides will be granted after Correction window closes LEAs that fail to submit data by end of this window will be non-compliant with State and Federal requirements
  21. What else can there be! (there is more!) Templates must be submitted in a special sequence Multiple collections may be “Open” at the same time. If data is submitted incorrectly then a delete request has to be made and this takes time The PIMS requirements have changed every year Code values used, template changed, new collections , different collection windows
  22. ACCURACY CERTIFICATION STATEMENT Every Collection requires an Accuracy Certification Statement (ACS) Superintendent’s Name on EVERY ACS How accurate is your data? Do you have a Data Team to review the data BEFORE Superintendent signs?
  23. What can you do as Leaders? Make Data Quality a priority Identify a Data Steward to oversee each of the submissions Identify Data Teams and ensure all are aware of their role Everyone has a responsibility in Data Quality Data Calendars for each submission So you know who is responsible for what data and when it is required Have published processes, procedures and guidelines What are the business rules; how is the data validated; how is the data corrected if the validation fails?
