  1. AP Calculus BC – 3.7 Implicit Differentiation Goal: Find derivatives using implicit differentiation.

  2. Implicit Differentiation Process: • Differentiate both sides of the equation with respect to x. • Collect the terms with dy/dx on one side of the equation. • Factor out dy/dx. • Solve for dy/dx.

  3. Power Rule for Rational Powers of x: • If n is any rational number, then • If n < 1, then the derivative does not exist at x = 0.

  4. Assignment: • HW 3.7: #5–35 ( every 5th), 45. • Chapter Test Thursday, October 27.
