  1. Leaf Lessons Visual and Performing Art Science Math Language Arts

  2. What do we know about leaves? • They change color and drop in autumn. • They have different shapes. • They crunch and crackle when they’re dry. • They smell when wet.

  3. What do we want to know? • What causes leaves to change color ? • What happens to leaves after they fall? • How many kinds of leaves at our school? • Why do leaves fall in autumn?

  4. What did we learn? • We made graphs: number, size, shape, and color • We used leaves to make pictures and patterns. • We measured and compared leaves from our tree. • We recorded the kinds of leaves at our school. • We listened and wrote leaf stories.

  5. Extensions • Recorded in our Science journals the number of leaves that fell under our tree, temperature and hours of daylight daily for three weeks. • Created a power point using photos of our art and completed one of two sentences i.e. I want to be the first leaf to fall…or I want to be the last leaf to fall… • We made a field guide for trees at our school. • Listened to poems and moved like leaves…
