Parts of a Leaf • Tip: terminal point of a leaf • Blade: flattened green expanded portion • Margin: edge of a leaf • Midrib: most prominent central vein • Lateral veins- secondary veins in a leaf • Petiole- leaf stalk that connects blade to stem • Stipules-leaf-like appendages. They can protect the young leaf and may be modified into spines or tendrils

  6. Compound Leaves • Leaflet- 20 leaf of a compound leaf • Rachis- an extension of the petiole bearing leaflets • Petiolule- leaflet stalk • Petiole- leaf stalk • Lateral veins- 20 veins in a leaf • Stipules-leaf like appendages
