  1. 中文四,中文五 F Block Course Objectives Students will: • Build foundation in language skills (听,说,读,写) in an authentic context. • Learn to decode and read independently in Chinese characters. • Learn the appropriate grammatical structures and exercise critical thinking skills. • Learn survival expressions in authentic situations • Learn appropriate communication through exposure to home/away from home, traditional celebrations in modern days, career goals, media literacy, • and views on leisure): • 旅行Travel • 在机场 At the airport • 约会Dating • 租房子Renting an Apartment • 开学 (IC 3eL2P1)

  2. 中文五 G Block Course Objectives 1st Semester • Revisit and enhance four language skills learned from previous Chinese studies in the contexts of: Seeing a Doctor, Dating, Renting an Apartment, Travel, and At the Airport • Develop proficient and deeper conversational skills by understanding and using idioms and authentic phrases (Chinese Sayings) • Develop and extend four communicative skills in the contexts of: • First Day of School 开学 • Dormitory 宿舍 • At the Restaurant 餐馆 • Shopping 买东西 • Selecting Courses选课

  3. 中文五 F Block Course Objectives 2nd Semester • Acquire information and recognize the distinctive viewpoints that are only available through authentic media, publications or interactions with Chinese communities. • Identify, analyze and discuss cultural perspectives as reflected in literary genres, products and practices on a wide range of cultural and social topics such as women’s roles, economic/social change, one-child policy, or education system.
