  4. Treatment • pain medications • drinking plenty of water daily • blood transfusions • penicillin • folic acid • hydroxyurea • bone marrow transplant

  5. Pros of knowing: • Being aware. • Knowing what you’re getting yourself into as a parent when it comes to raising a child like that. • Find out more about it.

  6. Cons of knowing: • Becoming paranoid. • Treating them different. • How it’s going to look in the future and to people outside the family. • Personal distress.
