Mission Assurance Requirements • Tailored from the requirements suggested by the Mission Assurance Guidelines GPG 8730.4.2 • Contained in “Mission Assurance Requirements for the ST5 Project”, ST5-495-010 • Technical Reviews in addition to Peer Reviews • System Concept Review (SCR) – Completed May 2000 • Preliminary Design Review (PDR) – June 19-20, 2001 • Critical Design Review (CDR) • Pre-Environmental Review (PER) • Mission Operations Review (MOR) • Pre-Shipment Review (PSR) • Flight Operations Review (FOR) • Flight Readiness Review (FRR)

Mission Assurance Requirements • Design Verification • Performance Verification Plan (PVP) • Verification Program based upon GEVS-SE • Verification Matrix (for both H/W and S/W) • Environmental Test Matrix • Procedures and Reports • Protoflight and Acceptance testing to ST5 S/C Specification and Requirements document (ST5-495-007) • Protoflight testing shall be performed on the first Flight Unit of the ST5 constellation • Acceptance testing shall be performed on follow-on Flight Units

Mission Assurance Requirements • Safety • “ST5 System Safety Implementation Plan”, ST5-495-040 - Approved • Assumes use of ELV, and not Shuttle • Developers provide required information for GSFC Safety Engineer • GSFC has overall safety responsibility • Parts Requirements • PPL-21, Grade 2 as baseline. Lot specific Qualification and DPA implemented based on part heritage. Parts Control Plan currently in draft form; is being implemented for all subsystems. • Parts Control Board review of selected parts. Approved parts will be added to ST5 PAPL and posted on web site.

Mission Assurance Requirements • Electronic Packaging and Process • NASA Workmanship Standards • Coupon Evaluation • Materials • NASA Publication 1124, Outgassing Data for Selecting S/C Materials, shall be used as a guide. • Materials approved via a Materials Control Board chaired by Project Materials Engineer • Materials must meet CVCM level 0.1% and TML of 1.0% • Non-approved materials or nonconventional use of materials processed via Materials Usage Agreement (MUA) • GSFC S-313-100, GSFC Fastener Integrity Requirements

  7. Mission Assurance Requirements • Reliability • FMEA – To be completed by CDR • Fault Tree Analysis - To be completed by CDR • Probability Risk Assessment (PRA) • Assessments shall include Worst Case Analysis, Parts Stress Analysis, and limited life items program
