  2. English 10 - 11/6/12 • I have found that the greatest help in meeting any problem with decency and self-respect and whatever courage is demanded is to know where you yourself stand. That is, … what you believe and are acting from. -Faulkner • Why did the Fungi leave the party? • Combat emplacement evacuator – shovel. Goals – Discuss how the opener today relates to Luke and yourself. Watch the movie and think about self-reliance. Homework – Write to explain some things you like about Luke as a human being and some things you don’t like. Explain anything you might have in common with him. Don’t forget to study vocabulary final Friday.

Goals – Discuss principles. “An accepted rule of conduct or action.” Watch Luke to determine his principles. Homework – Write briefly about the most important principles in your life?

Which principles can lead to self destructive behavior? Homework – Write briefly about why Luke gets into so much trouble. Is it because of principles or some other part of his personality.

Discuss the project for Cool Hand Luke. Homework – Write to explain some similarities and differences between you and Luke. Be specific. Use examples from the movie and your life.
