The National Minister of Human Settlements visited the Lakehaven Project located 13 km from Durban CBD. The project includes the construction of 272 housing rental units in the Newlands area. The project is funded by SHRA, KZN Provincial subsidies, and NHFC loan facilities. It promotes sustainability with energy-saving features and a reduced carbon footprint. The project also offers 24-hour security, community facilities, and excellent views.

  2. Lakehaven Project information Lakehaven project is located 13 km from the Durban CBD; in close proximity of the Gateway commercial mode and N2 transport route (Inanda Interchange). The project entails the construction of 272 housing rental units and is situated in the North Western Corridor of the city known as Newlands. The land on which the project is to be developed is already owned by First Metro. Total number of Social Housing units is 272. This is a low rise project which comprises of 34 blocks of 2 storeys. There are 4 units per floor in each block. A mix of unit types - bachelor, 1 bedroom, 2 bedrooms, 3 bedrooms. The project has been funded through the SHRA (R34 million), KZN Provincial subsidies (R15 million) and NHFC loan facilities (R33 million) and will accommodate more than1 000 beneficiaries. SUSTAINABILITY Energy saving globes, pre-paid electricity meters which encourage energy savings by tenants. The project was designed to obtain maximum sunlight and fresh air flow. The company has implemented a policy to ensure it reduces its carbon footprint on a long term basis. UNIQUE FEATURES OF THE PROJECT 24 Hour security, gated development. Community, Sport and Recreation facilities will be provided. The project is well located and has excellent views.
