Project originated from IFIP’s WITFOR 2005 Conference held in Gaborone (BOTSWANA) Other International Partner Institutions University of Mauritius University of Cape Town Helsinki University of Technology (Centre for Continuing Education TKK Dipoli Local Partners Ministry of Education (MoE) Ministry of Communication Science and Technology (MCST) Botswana College of Distance Open Learning (BOCODOL) Activity Theory Interest Group (ATIG) Non Government Organization Representation (N GOs) OBJECTIVES School & Community Transformation through: Application, adaptation & development CHAT Supporting education transformation in pilot project Post graduate training of change agents & ICTs Conducting Developmental Work Research (DWR) ACTIVITIES Training in Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) Developmental work in 10 pilot schools in Botswana Developing Center for Activity Theory at UB Developing Post Graduate training program at UB Center Conduction Developmental Work Research Establish Online community of practice for pilot schools Extend project to SADC region after pilot phase FUNDING Funding & support for 2007-2008 provided by Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Both partners need to allocate more funds for the project Third-party funding to be sought for project from 2009 and beyond OTHER EXISTING CENTRES OF ACTIVITY THEORY (AT) Centre for AT and Socio-cultural Research - University of Bath, UK Center for Human AT - Kansai University, Osaka, Japan RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS Grassroots Research was conducted at Mahupu schools Change Laboratory at Molefi Secondary school is in progess Publications from project will enable the launch Activity Theory Centre at UB PROJECT CONTACT PERSONS Dr Paul T.
