  2. What is your destination after high school?

  3. What can Co-op offer you? 1. Earn credits towards your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) 2. Two credits can be counted towards your compulsory requirements 4. Hands on learning in all post secondary destinations 5. Enrollment in OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) 3. Pathway or Specialist High School Major 6. Networking – meeting new people and getting your foot in the door 7. Possibility of getting hired

To be eligible for Co-op or OYAP you MUST… • Be at least 16 years old • Successfully complete 16 credits prior to the start of Co-op • Successfully complete the application interview and the placement interview • Have good teacher references and feedback • Have a positive and professional attitude, judgment and behaviour

  5. You are at your placement for a minimum of 20 hours a weekor3.5 – 4 hours/dayi.e. 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. 2 CREDIT CO-OP

  6. You are at your placement for a minimum of 35 hours a week or hour/day i.e. 8:30 – 4:30 4 CREDIT CO-OP

  7. Co-Application deadline is May 20th 2011 for September 2011 placements. CENTRALIZED PLACEMENTS 2011 Placements Include: • Nursing and Non-nursing - Credit Valley Hospital – 2 or 4 • Trillium Hospital – 4 cr. only • Carpentry, Electrical and Plumbing - Keaton Centre Mississauga • Writing, Photography - Mississauga News • Television - Rogers Television • Television - Salt and Light TV • Human Resources - Compass – Mississauga • Canadian Forces – Basic Military Training 8-spots • Clerical /Office- Peel Police

  11. Dual Credit • Go to the SJA Webpage for information and deadline dates. ( Click on Guidance, then Co-op) • FIRST come FIRST serve • Application does not guarantee spot so get it in EARLY!!!!

INTEGRATION(In classroom) • Attend class as scheduled by Coop teachers – (First 2 weeks, 2 Mon./mo) • Basic CPR certification - $30.00 • Hand in your logs and journals • Reflect on your experience with the class. • Prepare for assignments – RPT or PPT (PPT – Placement Performance Task) • Prepare for Coop Fair - culminating

  13. Co-op Process… Step 1: • Select Co-op on your Option Sheet – (you have already done this!) Step 2: • Complete the Co-op Application Form – signed by you and parents ASAP • Ask two teachers to complete reference form – they will hand to Coop directly Get Two teacher to complete reference form – teachers will

  14. Co-op Process… Step 3 • Once form submitted we will set up interview • Opportunity to explain placement options • WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO?? - must have 2 options • Bring a current resume Step 4: • 2 teachers will complete a detailed reference sheet about you
