  2. Purpose of Academy • Determine instructional viewpoint on issues which then will go through appropriate process • Discuss and debate issues, alter the way we do things • Codify instructional practices and processes • Training on specific issues • Increase communication

  3. Instructional Philosophy • Transformation Leadership – We are all leaders • “Leaders search for opportunities to change the status quo. They look for innovative ways to improve the organization” • Leadat its root means “go, travel, guide” as opposed to • Managewhich at its root means “hand” – handling things

  4. Style • catalyst of change not controller of change • decisions “on the table” not side deals • process-oriented • decisions are student-focused • power of chocolate (dark) • systems thinker

  5. When Do We Meet?? • Once a month? • Friday afternoons? • Lunch?

  6. Agenda for the Year • Together, let’s identify issues we want to cover for the academic year • Reassigned time for all instructional assignments • recommendation for bargaining table • Create fair, equitable, local economy

  7. Creation of “Stupid List” • Propose solutions to stupid list • Create teams that work on problems and bring them back to the group for discussion • Integration of our practices such as Program Review and SLOs

  9. Create a Calendar & Timelines to Accompany Model When does what get done and what group does it go to ??
