  2. Eddy Exp • Specify the grids, (wind), initial & boundary condition in the code • Input file: Only requires 1D temperature profile • Lx=700km, Ly=600km, H=750m • Tmean(135~140E, 18~25N), S=35. • One eddy (diameter=250km, Heddy=300m) • dx and dy are constant • dz increases with depth when z > Heddy

  3. Exp procedures: Inject an eddy gradually for 10 days After eddy is formed, blow the wind The wind gradually increases using a first quarter of sine function Wind becomes steady after 5 days (15th days) Zonal wind is specified westward

  4. Some experiments blew up before 30th day. We have the complete data for all the experiment until 27th day (16 days after wind has turned on)

  5. y-z section of Temperature Exp1w-Exp1 Exp1

  6. y-z section of Temperature Exp2 Exp2w-Exp2

  7. plan • The 3D PV, Ro, 28 deg isotherm & OHC are computed, the analysis need to be done • The eddy is moving, the day 26 may not be the center of the eddy • The horizontal analysis of velocity, wave parameters, temperature etc….
