  1. Tuning Word Preferences Or how to tell word that it is not smarter than you are.

  2. Accessing Word Options Click the Office Button in the upper left and you will see a cleverly disguised button at the bottom of the window for word options.

  3. In the Proofing Tab… You can turn off which ever options you like. Here is the set I am experimenting with.

  4. The Advanced Tab… The advanced tab has tons, with several sub menus too. And you thought Word was getting away from menus within menus within menus

  5. Formatting the Resume Create styles and use them. I created header, sub header and body styles for this document. To do this, set your text the way you want it and then select it and click the new style button at the bottom of the style window

  6. Set Tabs Properly! Set tabs the right way. Never press tab, tab, tab to move the cursor over. Double click a tab to get this window. It will allow you to set the different types of tabs and set leaders

  7. Control Spacing on Bullets Control spacing on bullets in the ruler. You can split the margin stop to control the first line and the rest of the paragraph manually
