  1. A Fluid Inclusion Study of Chuquicamata Porphyry Cu-Mo Deposit, Chile Neil Tobey Honors Candidate 2005/2006 Supervisor: Dr. Marcos Zentilli

  2. What is my Thesis About? • Study on fluid inclusions in the three different mineralogy phases in Chuqui: • Original Porphyry Event • Moly Qz Viens • “Deep” Epithermal event – supergene enrichment??

  3. Main Question • To confirm, or question the temperatures and pressures of emplacement of the three different mineralogic phases

  4. Why is this a significant problem to tackle? Why is it interesting? Important to my supervisor? Important to science? To society at large? • No real fluid inclusion study has been done on Chuqui • Chuqui is Marcos “Baby” • Determine some sort of template for finding super giant porphyry Cu deposits, then we can benefit the citizens in that country and provide jobs for a lot of people

  5. Approach and Method • Petrography work on the samples • Microprobe work done • Fluid inclusion analysis

  6. Results to Date
