PHOENIX SWIM INVITATIONAL To benefit Special Olympics’ Aquatic Program Phoenix Swim Invitational is the first swim meet that United World College South East Asia  (Dover) is helping to raise awareness for Special Olympics Singapore. This swim meet will provide a dual platform for competing swimmers to swim in a highly competitive environment and in addition to that, the swimmers will get to know more about what the Special Olympic movement is all about.  Special Olympics Singapore, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing sports training and competitions for persons with intellectual disabilities, giving them opportunities to develop physical fitness, self-esteem and confidence, and become productive and respected members of society. COMPETITION INFORMATION: • DATE: 3rd of November 2012 • VENUE: 1207 Dover Road, Singapore 139654 • (Dover Campus - Swimming complex) • CONTACT PERSON: Henry Chang henryuwc@uwcsea.edu.sg • ENTRIES CLOSING DATE: 19th October 2012 • COACHES MEETING: 20 min before start of competition • *Any changes to be sent before 29th October 2012 * • WARM UP’S @ 7.00AM • Please follow the layout for instructions on warm up. • Dive sprints/Pace/Turn practice lanes will only take effect 40 minutes before the start of the competition.

EVENT SCHEDULE FOR BOYS & GIRLS: • Start Time: 8 AM • 200M Individual Medley (9-10), (11-12), (13-14) and (15 over) • 50M Butterfly (13-14) and (15 over) • 50M Freestyle (8&Under) (9-10) and (11-12) • 100m Freestyle (13-14) and (15 over) • 50M Backstroke (13-14) and (15 over) • 50M Breaststroke (8&Under), (9-10) and (11-12) • Break • 100M Breaststroke (13-14) and (15 over) • 50M Freestyle (13-14) and (15 Over) • 50M Backstroke (8&Under), (9-10) and (11-12) • 100M Backstroke (13-14) and (15 Over) • 50M Breaststroke (13-14) and (15 Over) • 50M Butterfly (8&Under) (9-10) (11-12) • 100M Butterfly (13-14) and (15 over) • Estimated end time: 12 Noon        • RULES: • The Invitational shall be conducted under FINA Rules. However, below are the exceptions and it will be applied to this meet. • Kicking event: Swimmers will prepare to push off the wall for this event on a “Ready“ command • Two Start Rule will be enforced instead of the one start rule • Over the top starts • No DQs will be announced. • 10 swimmers will be swum per heat • REGISTRATION COST: • Swimmers need only pay $20.00 per person to entitle them to swim 4 events. • PAYMENT TERMS: • Please make club/school payment via cheque to “UWCSEA”. Kindly state on the back of your cheque‘Phoenix Swim Invitational’. • Due Date: 3rd November 2012 (Day of meet) • Attention: Henry Chang/Gary Tan

  4. MEET MANAGER: For all coaches and team mangers, kindly email us via meet manager zip file of all your entries. For coaches with no access to Meet Manager, you may wish to contact Henry Chang and email the entries over. However, we would suggest compiling it first before submission. Do take note that we will be charging an administrative fee of $20.00 per team if you are sending your entries via email. PRIZES: All swimmers will be awarded ribbons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. PRIZE PRESENTATION: Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for each age group. 1st ribbon presentation at break time with 2nd presentation at the end of the meet. COMPETING TEAMS: • Jurong Country Club – JCC • Singapore American School/ Fighting Fish – SAS/FF • SwimFast Aquatic Group - SAC • The Swim Lab • UWCSEA’s Phoenix Dover Campus • Speediswim Aquatic Sports Club-SASA CONTIINGENCY PLANS FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER Teams will follow UWCSEA’s (Dover) rules regarding inclement weather. All swimmers should exit the water and be under cover after the first sight or sound of lightning and thunder for 20 minutes. The visiting and host teams can collaborate together to discuss cancellation.
