Vision Impaired program: 25 low vision and 3 blind students • Hearing Impaired program at Idaho School for Deaf and Blind in Gooding: 1 student • Hearing Impaired program at Lake Ridge: 4 students • Hearing Impaired program at Meridian School District: 9 students • Transportation costs to Meridian’s Hearing Impaired program: $8,000 per month • Tuition to Meridian’s Deaf program: up to $135,000 per year

  4. District teacher and sign language aide for 4 students who are deaf/hard of hearing: $74,444 per year • Orientation and Mobility Services for our blind students: $10,000 per year • Braille transcriber for blind students: $28,946 per year • Aide to work with students who are blind: $28,000

NSD Staff Survey: 2013 Goal: Identify NSD employees’ perceptions of violence in our schools (n=37% of employees) • 59% found violence within NSD concerning • 78% believe a TEAM should assess a student’s risk level • 74% felt NSD does NOT provide adequate violence prevention • 59% understand their school’s discipline policy

REFERRAL PROCESS • School • Evaluate risk level of the threat incident • Refer substantive threats to RTAT • Risk and Threat Assessment Team (RTAT) • Convenes within 48 school hours to complete Initial Screening Assessment • If significant number of risk factors, RTAT completes a Level II Comprehensive Evaluation Outcome contingent on student’s determined level of risk
