It is an area people travel to for a range of leisure and recreational purposes especially the many pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants here. Only one bus route travels north on York Way. Buses have to use the King’s Cross Gyratory system, most passengers prefer to alight on Wharfdale Road and walk to the station from there rather than facing the frustration of traffic congestion on the Gyratory. Goodsway does not have a single satisfactory pedestrian crossing, and two that are potentially dangerous. Once construction on the Argent site begins, it will be in the middle of a building site with constant heavy construction traffic. When completed, Goodsway will be home to office blocks vacated in the evenings, once again becoming a lonely place to walk after dark. Camley Street is an alternative route to the station from Maiden Lane Estate. A large section of the street is an industrial estate, a lonely place to walk during the day and scary after dark. The crossing from Camley Street to Pancras Road is unsatisfactory. Despite continuous attempts by the community to get it improved, this is unlikely to happen as taxis travelling to St Pancras International receive priority.
