  3. GENDERWISE Background: Policy Context • EU gender equality framework • Shift from sex-based discrimination focus to more « gender » focus relations between men and women

  4. GENDERWISE Overall Aim • Overall aim is to support the development of integrated local/regional action plans for gender equality – with specific focus on the role of men as change agents

  5. GENDERWISE Objectives • To establish local cross-sectoral local action groups which will: • Undertake local/regional mapping to identify what measures (compatible with contextual factors) can/need to be taken to develop + promote the role of men as change agents • Undertake local dissemination/consultation • Make links with national agencies • Produce action plan

GENDERWISE Objectives (cont.) • To undertake three transnational peer review and development workshops: • Sharing of domestic responsibilities • Gender equality in the workplace • Socialisation and education • To capitalise existing practice at local, national and EU levels and create an online policy and practice « market place » (Agora-praxis) • To develop a transferable framework/methodology for developing LAPs and RAPs
