  3. 5d cinema opens in Karachi Yes, the rumors are true! A 5D Cinema has opened in Emerald Tower, Karachi on 20th October, 2012. Giving everyone the ultimate sensory thrill, this Cinema has many special effects that include moving seats, snow foam sprays and water splashes. It is an 8-seater that allows families to have fun together. It’s ticket price for the duration of 20 minutes is Rs.300. Which is quite costly to be honest, but this cinematic experience will make your money worth it!

Tanhaiyan ; Naye silsilay After a passage of 27 years there is now a renewed interest in the classic drama serial Tanhaiyan, thanks to Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay that premiered on 20th October, 2012 acting as its sequel. Co-written by Haseena Moin and Mohammed Ahmed, this 13-episode-sequel is directed by Marina Khan. Brought to us by Olpers, this sequel can be watched every Saturday at 8 pm only on Ptv Home and Ary Digital.

  5. Humsafar’s success Based on Farhat Ishtiaq’s novel “Humsafar” is a drama serial that sparked hysteria among Pakistani viewers around the world. With 7.5 TRPs, over two million uploads of Humsafar episodes, OST and related videos, 5 million hits on YouTube pages for Humsafar and 6,810,000 search results on Google, Humsafar indisputably is the highest rated drama in the history of Pakistan. However all of this has only been made possible by its brilliant script, acting, direction, as well as cast selection!

  6. Bol ; A major success for pakistani cinema Bol is another fantastic direction by Shoaib Mansoor after his movie ‘Khuda ke Liye’. Released world wide on 31st August, 2011, Bol offers a riveting storyline and great acting! The plot is about a female convict on death row, whose last wish is to tell her story to the media. Bol received highly positive reviews from critics (upto 4 stars). It’s actors were given many awards for their brilliant performances. It was even awarded the ‘best film by Shoaib Mansoor’ in Lux Style Awards.

  7. Light on Hai Premiered in 2011 and brought to us by Lipton, ‘Light on Hai’ is a Pakistani format show based on improvised comedy. Directed, created and hosted by Azfar Ali, this show is totally unscripted and unrehearsed. It consists of four to five games per episode, with a troupe of four incredibly talented stand-up comedians that include Ali, Minhaj, Saqib and Imran who play these games with a new celebrity guest in each episode. So, with its jokes, this show will bring a smile to your face whatever mood you may be in!

Abdul qadeer khan creator of the atomic bomb Abdul Qadeer Khan, also known for the creation of the atomic bomb, was born on 1st April, 1936 in India but actually he is a Pakistani and now resides in Islamabad. His main field was metallurgical engineering in which he excelled and this was the reason why he was the senior scientist in the Project-706 (the making of the atomic bomb). After many experiments and tests, the atomic bomb was ready on 28th May 1998, and Pakistan became a nuclear power! For this invention Abdul Qadeer Khan is also awarded with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz!

Abdus salam ; the first pakistani to achieve a Nobel prize in physics Born on 29th January,1926, Abdus Salam was a theoretical physicist who was the first Pakistani to receive a Nobel Prize in Physics. He achieved this for his work on the electroweak unification of the electromagnetic and weak forces. This was a theory that showed the unification of two fundamental forces of nature, strong and weak nuclear forces and the electromagnetic forces, one into another. This was a great achievement for Pakistan! That meant Abdus Salam died (in 1996) leaving a great mark on the world of physics!

Dr. atta-ur-rahman; first muslim scientist to achieve the unesco science prize Born on 22nd September-1942, Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman is the leading scientist and scholar in the area of organic chemistry. Living in Islamabad, he is known all over the world for his research in various areas related to natural product chemistry, which is his field of expertise. He is also credited for reviving the higher education and research practices in Pakistan. So, because of doing all of this, he was given many national as well as international awards which also included the UNESCO Science Prize. Which makes him the first scientist from the Muslim world to have won this prize in its 35 year old history!

  12. Dr. Samar Mubarakmand ; awarded pakistan’s threehighest civil awards Dr. Samar Mubarakmand; a Pakistani nuclear scientist and a renowned nuclear physicist was born on 17th September,1942. He is known for his research in Gamma Spectroscopy and experimental development of the linear accelerator. He is the founding chairman of Pakistan’s national engineering and scientific commission where he initiated the Missile Integration Programme in 1987. A pioneer of Fluid and Aerodynamics in Pakistan, Mubarakmand has been awarded Pakistan's three highest civil awards, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, the Hilal-e-Imtiaz and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz!

Pervez Hoodboy; achiever of Unesco’s kalinga prize Residing in Islamabad, Pakistan, and born on 11th July-1950, Pervez Hoodboy is a renowned nuclear physicist, essayist and political defense analyst. He is known for his work on the Parton distribution functions, Field Theory, Phenomenology, super symmetry and Abstract algebra. However, he continues to do research in Particle physics. Due to all his hard work, he received the Baker Award for Electronics in 1968 and even the Abdus Salam Prize for Mathematics in 1984 and is currently working as a visiting professor of Physics at LUMS.
