  2. Education Scenario In North East India North East Region was found to be lagging behind in quality education and lack of constructive higher educational institutions as compared to other regions of India.

  3. Education Scenario In North East India Though there are number of colleges and universities, the quality of education imparted is not up to date. The region has been witnessing rapid expansion of higher educational institutes, but due to lack of attention in systematic educational planning, it demeaned the value in quality higher education.

Causes of Quality Decline in North-Eastern Region • Lack of industries in this region, majority of the educated youth remain unemployed. • Paucity of financial allocation • Regional backwardness • Political negligence & interference • Poor administration in higher educational institutes Education Scenario In North East India

Challenges • Inadequate support from the government to the education sector • Schools are located in geographically difficult areas, with poor accessibility and infrastructural facilities. • Some areas suffer from superstitious practices and socially unhealthy systems such as polygamy, child marriage, corruption, lower status of women, etc.

  12. No of Schools run by Claretians in North East More than two third of our student population belong to the elementary Classes. Thus we primarily cater to Basic education in North East India.

  13. Our Accomplishments • Through a great number of village schools and lower-end fees, we have made education accessible and affordable to the poor and the marginalized, especially the tribal.

  14. Our Accomplishments • Hostel facilities provided for effective and comprehensive education and character formation of the youth. • Faith formation of the Catholics/Christians through educational ministry.

  15. Our Accomplishments • Evangelization among non-Christians through educational institutions and hostels. Youth come to know of Christ and many have embraced Catholic Faith.

  16. Our Challenges Most village schools are located in geographically difficult areas, with poor accessibility and infrastructural facilities

  17. Our Challenges • Lack of governmental financial support, especially in the higher education sector.

  18. Our Challenges • Difficulty in getting well-trained and qualified teachers to teach in our remote schools.
