IBM Connections IBM Connections is IBM's strategic social collaboration tool that enables us to innovate, be productive and collaborate at individual, community and enterprise-wide levels to help foster increased business growth. • What to include in Your Connections profile: • Upload a recent profile photo • Links to your social channels • Tags (keywords) to help with search • Links to your personal websites • A short bio to help with search • Industries you have experience in (i.e. banking, hospitality, education) 17

  18. When should I use Connections? • Do you have a question but know others would benefit from seeing the public responses or discussion? Post it on Connections. • Doing something new or exciting in your role, or checking out a new community? Post about it. • Could you save someone a trip to mail jail by posting that attachment on Connections instead? • Found a really cool link and want to email it to someone? Post it on Connections! • Want to thank or congratulate a coworker? Post it on Connections! 18

  19. Get started completing your IBM Connections profile Sign in to your IBM Connections profile w3.ibm.com/connections 1 2 Click “Edit My Profile” to start filling out or complete your profile

  20. Expand your social network by adding contacts 1 Open the profile page for the person that you want to add to your network 2 Click “Invite to My Network” 3 Enter keywords that define how you are connected to the person in the Add tags field. Click “Send Invitation”

  21. Connect your IBM Connection profile to your Twitter profile and more Type in a Name and URL address Click “Save” 2 1 Click “Add Link”

Add tags to optimize for search. • Benefit of Tags • Help others to find you in the organization • Click one of your own profile tags to quickly find other people who share your interest or are doing similar work • Get their contact information from their profiles and begin collaborating with them Click in the “Tags” field Create tags that are meaningful. Tags must entered as a single word.

  23. Advanced IBM Connections: Collaborating with Others Collaborate with colleagues via the message board area on their profile Let your colleagues know what you're doing by updating your personal board. View the latest posts to your message board.

  24. Advanced IBM Connections: Collaborating with Others Tag others in your posts to increase engagement Type the @ sign before someone’s name to mention them in your update. They’ll receive a notification that you tagged them.
