College Courses Where can I find information ? • WEB SITES • Wiltshire College and Bath College Prospectus in the Careers Office • Open Days •       Thursday 16th October 5pm – 7.30pm – Trowbridge •       Saturday 8th November 10am – 12pm  – Chippenham •       Saturday 15th November 10am – 12pm – Salisbury •       Saturday 22nd November 10am – 12pm – Lackham •       Saturday 22nd November 10am – 12pm - Trowbridge • If you miss the Open Day, you can contact the College and ask to meet someone who can give you information

  4. How do I decide on which course ? • Know YOUR LEVELS – what GCSE and Btec grades are you likely to get ? EVERY GRADE COUNTS • Once you have applied to College, you will be interviewed – a chance to ask questions eg; what happens if I do not get a C in English or Maths ? • Remember – your qualification should lead to employment . Are there jobs available in that sector ?

Apprenticeships • You will need to find an employer; there are some vacancies on the Wiltshire College website or go to www.apprenticeships.org.uk • Monthly database on school website Students Futures Apprenticeships • Apprenticeships have 3 levels, Intermediate, Advanced and Higher. • Advanced or level 3 apprenticeships require you to have level 2 qualifications – grade C or above at GCSE or a merit in Btecs + grade C in English and Maths • You will need to take a functional skills test for many Intermediate apprenticeships. Some will require a C in Maths and English • Polly Wiggins will support you through the process. THOSE INTERESTED IN APPRENTICESHIPS WILL BE INVITED TO WORKSHOPS IN TERMS 3 and 4 • TRAINEESHIPS are unpaid . Both work experience and training, for approx 6 months. May lead to apprenticeship

  9. What next ? If you are still undecided – use the support available • Your tutor, DSP or other members of staff who know you well. Arrange to meet either Mr Nolan or Mrs Thomas in tutor time • Careerpilotwebsite – link from school website • Careers appointment with Polly Wiggins. Book in Resources or use website. Link from school website yourcareersportal.com (password: futures) • Use the Parents Evening : 6th Nov, to check your progress Tutors will track your applications next Term
