05. Data from Bloomberg Add-in. Launch Bloomberg and Press GO. Enter your login details. Choose Settings Wheel, then set window size to Normal. From Windows Menu Click Install Excel Add-In. Press Install. Click OK. Click Microsoft Excel 2010. Click on Cell A1. Click Bloomberg.

  2. Launch Bloomberg and Press GO

  3. Enter your login details

  4. Choose Settings Wheel, then set window size to Normal

  5. From Windows Menu Click Install Excel Add-In

  6. Press Install

  7. Click OK

  8. Click Microsoft Excel 2010

  9. Click on Cell A1

  10. Click Bloomberg

  11. Click Real-Time/Historical

  12. Click Historical End of Day

  13. Type Apple

  14. Double-Click AAPL US Equity

  15. Type SP

  16. Double Click SPX Index (S&P 500 Index)

  17. Click Next

  18. Select Market Activity

  19. Select Last

  20. Select Last Price

  21. Click Add

  22. Click Next

  23. Select Date From 01/01/2003 to 12/09/2012

  24. Click Next

  25. Click Include all calendar days

  26. Click Finish

  27. Increase Column Width of A and D

  28. Shows Historical Prices for APPLE and S&P500

  29. Select Columns A to E

  30. Press Home

  31. Press Copy

  32. Press Paste -> Paste Values -> 123

  33. This removes any formulas

  34. Type ApplePrice in B2, and SP500Price in E2

  35. Click on Cell A1

  36. Click Delete -> Delete Sheet Rows

  37. Select Columns C and D

  38. Click Delete -> Delete Sheet Columns

  39. Now have neatly formatted data

  40. Challenge • Select Sheet2 and download share price data on another company of your choice

  41. If we try to create a line graph comparing Apple and S&P500 it will not be very clear

  42. Click on Cell A1

  43. Press Ctrl + Shift + * on your keyboard to select whole dataset

  44. Click on Insert -> Line -> 2D Line

  45. Apple starts off at a much lower level than S&PNeed to create an index for both starting at 1,000

  46. Click on graph and press Del on keyboard

  47. Type AppleIndex in E1

  48. Type SPIndex in F1

  49. We want to compare all prices to the first price so in cell E2 type =B2/$B$2*1000

  50. In cell F2 type =C2/$C$2
