  4. When we honor Christ’s present rule over our lives it radically changes everything about us! Conduct, Phil 1:27-30 Citizens of heaven, Phil 3:20-21 The Reign of Christ

  5. Christ in You, the Hope of Glory, Col 1:27 • Without Christ in you there is no hope, Eph 2:12 • We presently stand in grace and rejoice in hope, Rom 5:1-2 • This must be reflected in our personal values, conduct, priorities, choices…

Nature of Christ’s Reign John 18:36-37 • Not of this world • Regulated and blessed by truth • Within: In our hearts, Lk 17:20-21; Eph 3:17 (through faith, not fear) • Over our understanding, Eph 5:17; Phil 2:5 • Over our affections, Col 3:1-3; 1 Pet 4:1-2 • Over our conduct, 1 Pet 4:3; Rom 13:13

  7. Nature of Christ’s Reign John 18:36-37 • Subjects of Christ show their submission to Him by completely obeying Him, Eph 5:22-24 • Sanctified for obedience, 1 Pet 1:2; 2:9 • Else, we fail to truly submit to Him and fail to honor Him as Lord, Lk 6:46; Matt 7:21

  8. When Christ’s Reigns in our Lives (Eph 4:1) • Our lives will be a genuine reflection of Christ, Col 2:5 • Community ramifications: • Marriage, Matt 19:4-6 • Family responsibilities, Eph 6:1-4 • Neighbors, Matt 22:39; Lk 10:36-37

  9. When Christ’s Reigns in our Lives (Eph 4:1) • Religious ramifications: • Love for and fear of God, Matt 10:28 • Rely on revealed truth, not self and the wisdom of men, Col 2:3 • End hypocrisy in our lives, Matt 15:7-9

  10. When Christ’s Reigns in our Lives (Eph 4:1) • Moral ramifications: • Genuinely be salt and light, Matt 5:13-16 • Refuse the filth of the world for the purity of godliness, Eph 5:5-7

  11. When Christ’s Reigns in our Lives (Eph 4:1) • We will stand fast, Phil 1:27-28 • Attitude: In one spirit with one mind, Eph 4:2-3 (Gal 5:25-26) • Action: Striving together for the faith of the gospel (1 Tim 6:12) • Resist: Not “put to flight”, Prov 28:1

When Christ’s Reigns in our Lives (Eph 4:1) • We will accept the conflict and challenges that come, Phil 1:28-30 • Christ has granted us to believe in Him (obtain blessings of faith), Eph 1:3; 2:4-7 • Christ has granted us to suffer for His sake, Matt 5:10-12; 1 Pet 4:16 • Clear expression that Christ reigns in us! Phil 2:17-18

  13. THE REIGN OF CHRIST Eternal reign with Christ is assured to all who remain faithful to the point of death, Rev 2:10; 20:4 (6:9-11) Those who refuse the reign of Christ are eternally lost, Luke 19:14, 27 King offers redemption to escape wrath, Psa 2:8-12
