Recess • Students will have outdoor recess everyday unless it is raining or the wind chill temperature dips below ten degrees. • Lots of equipment is available for the children to use. Students may not bring toys from home. • Dressappropriately • Students can keep extra recess clothing items at school with parental permission.

Homework • Homework Log comes home on Friday so children can get a head start if needed • Homework is due Tues., Wed., Thurs. and Fri. (not at the end of the week like in 2nd grade) • Most work should be completed independently with parents checking after completion • Word work is the same every week • Work is meant to be easy review of skills taught in class
Birthdays • Party will be on or near your child’s birthday or half-birthday at 2:45. • An information note will come home a few weeks prior to your child’s birthday. • There are 22 students in our class. • We do not have any food allergies this year. • Parents are invited to attend, but are not required to be there.
New York State TestsELA- April 1, 2, & 3Math- April 30 & May 1We will spend about 3 weeks preparing for the exams.Ways parents can help at home: Read with your child daily (exams have a high reading level).Do the weekly Scholastic News (format is similar to NYS exams). Practice basic math facts.Make sure children get enough sleep and a good breakfast the day of the exam.
