History and Activity • The LANL UFV&A program automated the approval process in June of 2008. • Process improvement: • Export License determination should occur when the host organization first submits the request • Corrective action will not be funded in this fiscal year. • Interim measure has subject matter experts review and assess each request. • No mechanism for Export reviewers to deny or return a request. • They only enter their assessment for managers to review and approve or deny. • Current concerns: • Hosts are inconsistent in providing detailed and accurate scope of work. • Requests are not always updated when the scope of work changes or research migrates into areas that may need to be protected
