  3. Gospel All Years Gospel story for this week: Luke 3:1-6 John the Baptist Prepares the Way The word of God came to John in the wilderness. He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness,‘Prepare the way for the Lord,    make straight paths for him.Every valley shall be filled in,    every mountain and hill made low.The crooked roads shall become straight,    the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation.’”

  33. Message Board All Years Literacy Tip Of The Week – Semi-colons and colons • It is very easy to mix up colons and semi-colons • A colon is for introducing examples. • “For example: this very sentence!” • A semi-colon is for linking together two independent parts of a sentence in a cause-and-effect relationship. • “The wind was freezing; I pulled my coat around me.” • Do not use a semi-colon to give an example or introduce evidence for something; that’s what colons are for! • (Bonus question: did the previous sentence use a semi-colon and why does this one use a full colon?)

  34. Message Board Year 8 Mrs Hosking Mrs Hosking sends you all her very best wishes and thanks for the lovely cards. She is getting better day by day and is very much looking forward to coming back – hopefully, by the end of this week. 46. Revision Tip Years 9-11 Checklists For each of your exams, you need to know exactly what you need to learn. Make a checklist for every exam to ensure you are clear in your own head about how much and what you need to learn/revise. You can then use this to plan your revision timetable and also tick it off as you revise. This will give you a real sense of achievement as well as showing you clearly what you need to do to revise.
