  2. WHY HOSA? • No restrictions on membership! • Open to all majors • Open to all ethnicities • Open to all pre-health care professions • No minimum GPA requirement • Competition • On request

  3. HOSA Facts and Requirements!

  4. Volunteering- Kay • Volunteering is health based opportunities • Ties to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Susan B Komen, and American Heart Association of Austin • Two options to be active: • 18 hours with HOSA OR • 12 hours with HOSA and 9 hours outside HOSA • Volunteering at the hospital, routine personal volunteering, individual events • All outside volunteering must be validated by an official and documented for Kay • Volunteer cancellation: • Prior 48 hours: No penalty • After 48 hours: 1 hours deduction • Day of cancellation: 2 hours deduction

Fundraising and Treasury-Karson • Dues: • $50 for the year/ $35 for the semester • Turned in by third general meeting October 19th • Fundraising requirements: • One BIG fundraiser • Football Ushering • UIL Ushering • One small fundraiser • Restaurants **If you do three Big fundraisers (Football ushering events) this semester, you get your membership dues refunded!!!**

  6. Meetings- Seher • Speakers • Contact Seher for preferences • Meeting attendance: • Attend 4 of our 6 general meetings • Meetings every other week on Tuesdays at 7pm • First general meeting Sept. 21st 2010 • HPC Information

  7. SOCIALS- Ellie • Social requirements: • Attend 3 socials this semester • Bowling, movies, BBQs, ice cream • IM Sports • Football • Volleyball • Soccer

  8. Test Prep- mohamed • After every meeting • Request material one meeting in advance • Old exams and assignments • By professor • By course

  9. Website and records-Martin • All event sign ups are now online • www.txhosa.org • Meeting attendance • Suggestions and questions about the website

Active membership requirements: For One Semester • Volunteering • 12 hrs with HOSA, 9 hrs outside OR • 18 hrs entirely with HOSA • Fundraising • One large and one small fundraiser event • Socials • three • Meetings • Attend 4 of the 6 • Dues • $50 for the year/ $35 for the semester by Oct. 19

  11. Active members • BANQUET FOR FREE <3 • Dave and Busters • Cheesecake Factory • SIX FLAGS • KAPLAN SCHOLARSHIP • Half and whole scholarships for any test-prep course with Kaplan on Guadalupe • MCAT, GRE, PCAT, DAT, etc

Upcoming events • Test Prep • First one after next meeting Sept 21- requests start now • Social • Bowling Friday Sept.10th from 5pm-7pm • Union Bowling Alley • Volunteering • Green Corn Project Sunday Sept. 19th 8:30am-2pm • Littlefield Fountain at 8am • Semester long food drive; Final Day is Nov 17th • Each meeting bring nonperishable food item for hours: 3 items= 1 hr, 3 hrs earned max
