  1. Welcome to 6th grade world historyms. Grant 2014-2015

  2. Course topics • The primary content for this course pertains to the world's earliest civilizations to the ancient and classical civilizations of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Students will be exposed to the multiple dynamics of world history including economics, geography, politics, and religion/philosophy. Students will study methods of historical inquiry and primary and secondary historical documents.

  3. Classroom Expectations • All students are expected to: • Be seated and working when the bell rings. • No eating, drinking, or chewing gum. • Respect your teacher and classmates. • Raise your hand and wait to be called on. • Consequences • Verbal warning • Pre-Detention (written warning)/ Phone Call Home • Detention • Pre-referral • Referral

Supplies • (1) Plastic Duo-tang folder~2 pockets with prongs • Colored pencils Basic Supplies: • Lined paper, Pens (red, blue, black), #2 Pencils (mechanical preferred), Markers, Crayons, Highlighters, Handheld Sharpener, Ruler, Scissors, Glue Stick • Student Agendas Are Available for purchase Through PTA • Additional items may be suggested for future assignments, activities and projects

  6. Quizzes and Tests Each chapter will have Quizzes and 1 Chapter Test. Section Reviews and a Study Guides for each chapter or section we go over. The information on the quizzes and tests will come directly from the in class PowerPoint notes and the textbook.

  7. Homework Homework will be given several times a week just as a reinforcement to what has been taught in class. It is important that the students review the notes that they have taken in class and re-read the information we have covered in the textbook.

  8. Grades and Pinnacle • All grades are weighted into categories. • 40% Tests and Quizzes • 20% Projects • 30% Classwork • 10% Homework • School Grading Scale: 90-100 A 70-76 C 87-89 B+ 67-69 D+ 80-86 B 60-66 D 77-79 C+ 0-59 F • You can view your child’s grades online at the Pinnacle Internet Viewer. • The Student ID and a Password is needed. • Password = Date of Birth (YYYYMMDD)
