  1. KISD Databases For 5th Grade Revolutionary War Project

  2. Go to www.katyisd.org and navigate to the resources page. First click on Learning Pathways

  3. Next, click on 5th grade under the Social Studies section.

  4. Under Social Studies, click on the History tab.

  5. Then click on the “High Tea in Boston Harbor” Link

  6. Click on the tab Titled “Chronicle Of the Revolution”

  7. You will get a selection of articles on topics about the American Revolution …click on the one you want..

  8. To cite this website for your bibliography, highlight the web address in the box, right click to copy then move to your document and paste the link. Articles are done in a newspaper format and have additional links, photos and maps for you to research the information you need.

  9. Next, navigate back to the main database page and scroll down to the Worldbook database….click to open it. Type the search “American Revolution” in the text search box and hit enter.

  10. The article on the American Revolution is the first choice…click on it to open it.

  11. The article is VERY long and has tons of information. For additional websites, click on this sidebar. The Left sidebar shows a listing of all the topics. If there is a camera to the side, it includes a picture. If there is a globe, there is a map. Some also have calendars, timelines and charts.

  12. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the article for the citation for your bibliography.

  13. Now go back to the main database page and click on the database called Gale Group. For biographies, click on the Gale Biography in Context.

  14. Type the person’s name in to the search box and enter.

  15. You get a main article, a picture, a factbox, and an additional article they recommend. Click here to view the whole article

  16. Scroll to the bottom of the article to find the citation for the bibliography.

  17. Lastly, you might try our newest resource—Maps 101. From home the username and password are “katyisd”. Choose Map Collections

  18. Then Antique Maps

  19. Then choose the location of the map you would like. Not all areas have a map, but look around.

  20. For example, here is Boston during the time of the Boston Tea Party.
